Introduction:

With a view to filling the dearth of qualified professionals in the field of international business, Badruka Institute of Foreign Trade (BIFT) was established in October 2001, under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi. Established in 1963 by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, IIFT is rated as the best management school in international business, enjoying the status of a ‘deemed university’. BIFT, one of the nine educational institutions run by the Seth Ghasiram Gopikishan Badruka Educational Society, offers a two-year Masters Programme in International Business (MPIB), which is in full conformity with the syllabus and course content of IIFT’s flagship programme namely MBA - International Business. IIFT extends to BIFT academic support and expertise through its faculty. BIFT adopts IIFT’s syllabus and course contents for each subject of the MPIB course.

The MPIB Programme:

The MPIB programme is a two-year full time programme divided into six trimesters, of four months duration each. The programme offered by BIFT is similar in structure and pattern as that of IIFT. BIFT adopts an integrated approach towards management education that combines experimental and conceptual learning techniques with a curriculum that is drawn from IIFT’s rigorous and knowledge-packed syllabus, together with BIFT’s own additional inputs based on demand from the industry. The students are evaluated continuously on the basis of assignments, presentations, group discussions, quizzes, role-plays and class tests. Considerable stress is laid on discipline, cultural values and personality development.

The Institute has best of contemporary infrastructure with a Seminar Hall and class rooms which are all equipped with Air conditioner, LCDs, OHPs & Audio Visual Equipment including internet. The state-of-the-art Computer Centre of the institute has 80 computers on a Local Area Network (LAN) connected to a Server, with Internet connectivity through a dedicated broadband link.

The library has a collection of about 8100 books and regularly subscribes to 40 national /internationaljournals and magazines. E-journals through databases such as EBSCO Elite, as well as CMIE’s Prowess, India Trades, etc., are being provided to the students. Valuable data is also available in the form of trade directories, country / product research reports, project reports, trade publications, video-library, CDs and management software.

Placements:

Acclaimed by academicians and industry representatives alike, the first four MPIB Batches from BIFT have been well received by reputed organizations including well known MNCs / large business organizations in manufacturing / services / trading domains.

Admission Procedure:

Eligibility: Graduate-level degree from any university (or recognised by Association of Indian Universities), in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC / ST candidates). There is no age limit. Admission of foreign / NRI candidates will be based on Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), the results of which should not have been declared before 1st January 2005 and should be received at BIFT along with the Application.

How to Apply / Important Dates:

Obtain BIFT’s Application Form and Prospectus (2006-08) on payment of Rs.500 from BIFT office, or Rs.600 by courier / post, through Demand Draft on any nationalised bank in favour of ‘Badruka Institute of Foreign Trade’ payable at Hyderabad. Submit filled-in Application Form before 4.00 pm on 25th March 2006. Await call for direct Group Discussion (GD) / Personal Interview (PI).

Those who have scored above acceptable score in CAT / IIFT / GMAT / MAT / XAT / SNAP / ATMA tests will be called directly for GD / PI at the respective centres opted by the candidates on 15th May 2006 (Hyderabad, New Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Indore, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Bangalore,Pune).

In case any applicant has not been able to appear for any of the above-mentioned tests, he/she must appear for BIFT’s Admission Test (BIFTAT) at any of the centres given above, on 14th May 2006 and if selected, attend GD and PI on 15th May 2006 at the centres mentioned above. Further Information:
